Waist-to-Height Ratio Calculator

Calculate your waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) and see where it falls on standard health bands. A simple, research-backed health screening metric.

Waist-to-Height Ratio

Enter your waist and height in the same unit

Measure around the navel, relaxed, not sucking in.

Your Ratio

Enter your waist and height to see your ratio

WHtR = waist ÷ height, plus its health band

Why Use WHtR?
Reflects central fat

Waist-to-height ratio captures abdominal (central) fat, which carries more metabolic risk than overall weight.

Works across heights

A single threshold — waist under half your height — applies to most adults regardless of stature.

Simple to track

Central fat is often among the first to reduce on a sustained deficit, so WHtR is a useful way to track progress.

How to Measure
  1. 1Measure your waist: around the navel, relaxed, with a flexible tape that's snug but not compressing.
  2. 2Enter your height: in the same unit as the waist (in or cm) — the ratio is unit-independent.
  3. 3Read your ratio: WHtR = waist ÷ height, and see which health band the number falls in.

Important Notes

WHtR is a screening metric, not a diagnosis. Very low ratios (under ~0.4) may also carry health concerns. Use it alongside other health markers and consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
